Mission, Vision, Core Values and Strategic Directions



In the spring of 2010, members of the Ankeny Community including parents, business leaders, educators, students, alumni, religious leaders, retirees and others joined together to begin a process of strategic planning for the future of the Ankeny Community School District.   The goal of the process was not only to create a mission, vision and values for the immediate future, but one that was long-term and lasting - one which goals and objectives could be based for the long run.  This process is ongoing and will result in a roadmap that will guide and drive the focus, decisions and actions of the district.  As more elements of this plan are developed or revised over time, the information will be found here.

Ankeny Community Schools is unified in its commitment, passion, and vision so every learner is prepared to achieve a lifetime of personal success.

  • All embrace and are engaged and are utilizing the comprehensive strategic roadmap to guide every priority and decision
Strategic Directions  (Prioritized Allocation of Resources)
  1. Align all internal and external partnerships, works and interests to the Strategic Roadmap and Operational Plan
  2. Implement fully a defined and aligned district core curriculum
  3. Embed technology as a core asset and tool for learning, teaching, communicating and managing
  4. Attract, develop, reward, and retain highly effective staff
  5. Differentiate the core curriculum, instruction, assessments and interventions to better meet student needs
  6. Increase learning for all students and reduce the achievement gap through individualized learning plans
