Eat at HuHot September 22 and Support Ankeny Key Clubs:
On Monday, September 22, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., the ACHS Key Club will raise money by working at HuHot.  Members of the club will bus tables earning 10% of the proceeds, plus any donations, in order to adopt-a-family through the Ankeny Service Center’s annual holiday assistance program.  On September 8, AHS Key Club previously raised $355 dollars through the HuHot promotion, also for the adopt-a-family program.  Both clubs are sponsored by the Ankeny Kiwanis.
Annual Progress Report available online:
Each year in September, the district publishes an annual report for the prior school year.  This report details, among other things, long-range goals, annual improvement in terms of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), year-over-year Iowa Assessment scores and ACT scores.

The 2013-2014 Annual Progress Report of the Ankeny Community School District is now available online here.
Thank you, Ankeny, for your support of PPEL!

The members of the Board of Education would like to thank Ankeny voters for supporting the school district with a 76 percent approval of renewing the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.

"We would also especially like to thank all of our citizens and staff who spent their personal time and effort to help inform the community about this issue," said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Bruce Kimpston. "Your work is greatly appreciated."

The school district will use this funding to continue to be good stewards of the facilities provided by our community, focusing on repair, equipping and improving your schools. On behalf of the Board, our staff, and most importantly, our students, “Thank you, Ankeny.”

Ankeny parents may qualify for refund through Iowa School Food Settlement -

Recently, a class action lawsuit involving the Iowa Educators’ Corporation was settled.  As a result of this settlement, you may be eligible for a refund up to $3.50 per student per year during a set period of time, with a maximum of $50 per student. Information regarding claiming this refund may be found by clicking here.  Contact information and a claim filing tool are included.

District reports greater clarity, improved process and staff development around homework and grading -
Grading and homework practices in Ankeny Schools are more clearly defined at the district’s secondary schools this year, and parents and students have greater access to that information according to an update given to the Board of Education Monday night.  In addition, teachers have received more training and were given flexibility to define certain aspects of grading within set guidelines.  Read the full article here.
